The Epic Siege of Plevna

The Siege of Plevna in 1877 was a defining moment in the Russo-Turkish War. Ottoman General Osman Pasha became a legend for his heroic defense of the city, holding off a massive Russian and Romanian force for five months. Using brilliant tactics and fortifications, he frustrated generals like Russia’s Mikhail Skobelev and Grand Duke Nicholas. Even Romanian King Carol I joined the siege. Despite eventual surrender due to shortages, Osman’s bravery earned him respect, even from his enemies, and cemented his place as one of history’s great military leaders.
