Have you ever wondered if Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd were connected in some way? With the release of HoYoverse's new game, Honkai: Star Rail, we might have gotten some big hints as to how all the games of HoYoverse is being linked to each other is a very secretive way. In this video, I will discuss some of the similarities that exists in Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and Honkai Impact 3rd and how they all related to the entirety of Honkai Universe that is created by HoYoverse.

Some additional context about the video: This video has few things that are intentionally left vague to help avoid headache and confusion. Specifically regarding the existence of Bubble Worlds/Universes.

It is my understanding that within Honkai Impact 3rd specifically, there was an issue with the translations/localization of the words "World" and "Universe." Basically, WITHIN the game of Honkai Impact 3rd, Bubble Worlds refers to stable "leaves" while Bubble Universe refers to fading universes that are not anchored, unstable, and facing imminent destruction. In this video, I have mixed these two terminologies, but in all honesty, it gets overly complicated because we are fixated on the technicalities of words. To put it simply, there are Bubbles that exists as leaves that can eventually lose their stability and fade away. There are also Bubbles that are fading away, that can reattach itself to the tree through methods such as Genius Anchors and others. Again, this is all overly complex, and unnecessary for the overall concept of this video in particular. The exact details are best left for another video or livestream discussion altogether probably.

Also, I understand that my interpretation of "Honkai" could possibly be a bit different. This is my perspective from trying to understand the entirety of HoYoverse, rather than specifically focusing on what was presented within the game of Honkai Impact 3rd.

A small correction: Bubble universes =/= leaves on the tree. Living universes, those which still have a chance against the Honkai, are leaves, whereas bubble universes are those which failed/are predisposed to fail against it, and thus they fall into the Sea of Quanta and dissolve like Su's little universe did in Second Key.

When Aether or Lumine say that they used to travel from world to world before, does this imply they used to travel from one bubble universe to another within the same leaf, or from one leaf to a completely another leaf?

1. Bubble universes aren't leaves, they are dead words in Sea of Quanta.
2. Jarilo VI and Xianzhou Luofu are separate leaves. Homu Labs, clarified this in his ch36 discussion stream.

Not to mention - you can catch a glimpse of Dvalin in HI3, in StarRail you can find the Travelers glider, as well as a broken sword that was used by Himeko in HI3, also a subtle nod to Paimon with the text 'How about we explore the area ahead of us later' while inspecting a gate in Belobog. So yeah, the worlds are connected in more ways then one.

it's probably be said already but bubble universes are not the same as anchored universes (leaves on the tree), bubble universes are so called because they're free floating in the sea and cannot produce Honkai energy, thus they will eventually "pop" and die unless they can regain an anchor such as the would from Durandal's VN being anchored directly to her soul or Sumaru being bound within The second key it's self

I started playing honkai 3rd a year into my genshin journey because i was so curious about these larger concepts and now im in love with it so im onto star rail to gain even further understanding. Juggling 3 hyv games is starting to become a hobby in and of itself
Little addition to the honkai theory: seems like honkai is almost like the wall described in the fermi paradox, a point at which civilisation succeeds and thrives or faces complete annihilation. And we dont know if weve hit that wall or if any creature in the existence of our known universe has managed to surpass it.

I really hope that Wendy will be a character in Honkai:Star Rail, cuz I love her so much in Houkai Gakuen/Ggz but they killed her so early in Honkai Impact, I love Venti too (Wendy's alternate self in Genshin)

Great video! But bubble universes in honkai refer to universes that aren’t connected to the tree anymore, leaves are a separate concept

I started with Genshin, and as soon as I hit the lore iceberg's lower levels, I just *had* to check out -Depression- Honkai Impact 3rd. Which I fell in love with! Thanks for this concise and informative break down of the similarities between the three games. I’d like to add when Otto is looking at bubble universes in the Imaginary tree he sees Dvalin flying through the air, which proves that Genshin Impact Universe is part of the Imaginary Tree. Also from what I’ve heard about StarRail is Welt is the Welt from Honkai Impact, but idk if that’s true or not. Either way I’m super excited about playable Welt. He’s such a badass, his fight against Sirin was one of my favorite parts of the Second Eruption manga.

-if stair rail only travel to other universe on the same leaves, then hi3 universe is more advance since welt can travel(stranded) to stair rail
-the energy in stair rail is like honkai, will of honkai, and herscerr(hard to type)
-in hi3 trailer reburn2 welt and caroll is in the train, so it might be that later in the story welt find his way back to hi3 universe
