The largest electric boat in the world is in Norway.
It has a capacity of 600 passengers and 200 cars.

The ferry docks and departs 20 to 24 times a day. The crossing takes around 30 minutes.

There are lots of lakes where big power doesn’t make any sense, and many lake associations and cottage owner will opt to give preference to these new engines. Cleaner, less noisy and easy to get a full day on the water on a single charge.

If you wanted to run a 100kw outboard at 80% cruise for one hour you'd need one metric ton of marine grade LiFePos. Sure you could use automotive grade Lithium Ion cells in come DIY solution to save weight but that would probably not be a good idea for anything other than experimental/racing because how risky it is. Regular boat fires are bad enough without the lithium deflagration.

There's literally trolling motors out there that have 110 lbs of thrust (48vdc).. and this is a mere 15hp?!!

The only way to use electric boats is with small and light hulls integrated with foils in my opinion...

I’m not into the ev craze but electric motors on boats I think actually make sense, if you could lighten them.

Will marinas be happy about the extra load (and increased electric bills) to charge these things? Not to mention fire hazard with lithium ion batteries.
Thankfully the price tag will keep most boaters away from electric.

because you barely are. 5mph top speed. I own 2 Teslas, and I have to say that electric boats are really dumb idea. Only really practical for a small neighborhood lake.

Allot of state park lakes here in southern Ohio only allow electric motor only boats
