Dig it - I heard the flute and thought of "Goin' Up the Country", the Canned Heat song feature in Woodstock. Sure enough - that was a Henry Thomas song,

My Dad always loved this song, we used to sing it in the car together when I was little

Sublime in every way. And when the quill pipe comes in, it elevates it to some even higher plane. Truly timeless, never can get wearied of it. When it comes at the end of the Harry Smith anthology, it seems to sum up all the songs, and to float away into space.
