Broadband Commission Working Group on School Connectivity launches report on The Digital Transformation of Education

The Working Group on School Connectivity is delighted to launch a report on The Digital Transformation of Education: Connecting Schools, Empowering Learners. With 3.6 billion people in the world without access to the internet, and most recently with 94% of learners worldwide out of school during the CODVID​-19 lockdowns, today more than ever, there is a need to strengthen national infrastructures to ensure that connectivity is more widely available. This report focuses on school connectivity and introduces a methodology and framework for connecting primary and secondary schools to the Internet ​and for using schools as an access point to connect entire communities.
Th​e report is the result of a multiagency, multi-stakeholder effort co-chaired by ITU, UNESCO and UNICEF, with the goal of providing children and young people with safe and secure access to the Internet, and with the digital skills they need to learn and improve their lives.
