In an alternate timeline, I just played the same matchup last night where I stole the Freyr’s 3rd TC location and put a citadel on it. He sent a nuclear bomb that blew up my army, family, and 90% of my production

I play 100% Ra and have over 100 ranked games now. Lack of scouting options early on is crippling. Compare it to any other Pantheon and they have almost full map coverage before you have a priest ready to leave your base unless you want to sacrifice empower benefits. Ra has virtually no way to pressure before migdol unless you go full in on barracks units which are weak early on and cannot do any damage to buildings that are defended in any way. If you make it to migdol via fast TC, Ra actually has a strong boom with double rain and selling wood in the market, but it’s tricky to get there and stay alive, especially against any pressure.

Bonus round: - Sphinx are terrible and naturally countered by the other 3 pantheons. Team wadjet all day (also weak)
- no access to meteor or valley of the kings. But Osiris is Chad anyway so must pick.
- Locust swarm on farms via a roc fly by is actually pretty good but situation. Problem is the other guy has some game changer god power like flaming weapons or restoration so.. what would you prefer.

Stick with it Ra boys, the rain will dry and our time in the sun is coming 🌈 🌧️

the age up to tier 4 was stopped for kittenclaw because he made the citadel, they changed it in the recent patch though to not stop the age up

In Legacy Locust Swarm was a nightmare to deal with. It MELTED villagers and instantly destroyed farms.

The big thing i dont get about ra pro players is that with fruits buff is faster to gather them than hunt cause y dont lose time killing animals and no one seems to do it

Rain should prevent other god power activation within its duration ( thats how it worked back then ) which will make it pretty good offensively and defensively

I feel like Ra needs to go all infantry. Ptah into Sekhmet into Horus. You get 7 infantry upgrades plus the cheap farms with Shaduf which makes rain more worth it. Plus none of those gods have MU's that cost gold.

I think is mostly due to sphinx being worse in retold. These things dealt a respectable crush damage to buildings in the original, so you could easily spam some of those + scarabs and win with eclipse (rain allowed you to get lots of food, plus empowering monuments increased the favour gained).

Retold changed a lot of things that were amazing in the original. (Just look at mummies, they used to cripple when walking, now they are buff lol). Mummies don't cost gold anymore, they cost wood, same as medusai. Other myth units saw their DPS increased dramatically or last way longer now, plus OHKO moves are pretty much gone (medusai no longer insta kill, they just take a lto of your HP, mummies neither, but they can spam lots of vassals now).

Anyway, Ra lacks A LOT of early game firepower. If they returned sphinx to their original state, he would be in a better spot. Wadjet has always been mediocre, and all barracks units have always been pretty bad early, so you're not really fixing Ra's weak early in retold.

But hey, trolls were useless in the original and now they actually do damage + scatter troops with their special.

It's actually disgusting how underpowered Ra is right now. Good thing, it cant get any worse - will all be uphill from here 😂. But on an honest note: fucking buff Ra!!!

i feel like ra players are picking all the wrong minor god combinations and thats why theyre losing lol. If you wanna go horus sekhmet then stack it with ptah infantry upgrades. Going bast and horus gives you 2 melee myth units that do the same exact thing, you get nothing new from avengers if you already have hieracosphynxes.

egyptian in general has been a bit underwhelming, and Ra is just the worst of them
