i just discovered this video today. Thank you Jake for explaining it this was super helpful. Even though I have a margin account I purchase a stock that took a nose dive and I was wondering how to short sell it to make up for some of the loss. I did not sell it however in the future I will apply this knowledge.

These risks are the reason why one probably better trades with derivates like Options or KnockOuts. These are available for short (Put) and long (Call) trading, but always limit the risk to 100% loss. 100% loss sounds terrible, but done right, it's less than a 10% loss on the original stock.

*Short selling, * I did (still do) this all the time in the 1998 game *"Railroad Tycoon II"* and it works like magic - usually. Occasionally I couldn't avoid getting short sqeezed by some computer player. Now this game is NOT like real life, I have a good birds eye view of how things are going for the different companies in the game, the computer players don't have that (at least to the same extent). But it did teach me some basics of "short selling." *Jake, thanks for brilliant videos on the economic aspects of the war in Ukraine.*

It's interesting seeing how the market has mechanisms for functioning even when things aren't going well. Feel like we hope stocks will just constantly rise in value which is an unrealistic expectation in a long run.
