I've never seen this before. I learned something new. I always thought that problem had something to do with the way you place the fabric. I'll have to look into one of these plates. Thanks for the video.

Thanks a bunch! 🤭. Backup plan for lightweight fabrics… a piece of tape face down over the needle portion of the throat plate and then pierced by the needle so as to temporarily narrows the opening. Thanks a bunch Anastasia! 🥰

The straight stitch plate is such a nice feature to have! Some machines even come with a different feed dogs that you swap in at the same time so that the feed dogs are closer to the straight stitch needle position. I usually have the most trouble with lightweight stretch fabrics, and a straight stitch plate combined with the 3-step straight stitch is often just what the doctor ordered.

I love my straight stitch plate! Makes a big difference. I have a smart enough sewing machine that if I forget to switch back to my regular plate, it won't let me sew with a zigzag stitch.

Instead of getting a separate plate can I use tape to make the opening narrower?

Ive been watching a bunch of quilting videos and noticed they used whats called a "leader" Its just a scrap peice of fabric that they feed in first then they feed in their quilt fabric. I tried it a couple times and it does help but i havent tried it on garments yet.

How can small boutique shop owners, fashion brands, and fashion designers find accurate measurement charts for all body types in women's and kids' wear to facilitate online and mall sales without the customer being physically present, and where can they access these resources?

Please guide

Wait until you forget and change to a zigzag or change needle position to do a zip: broken needle and a big shock!!!! Happened to me many times. I'd rather use some tissue under it or run on/off a small square of fabric like quilters do.

Could you not just use some painters tape to reduce the size of the hole?

Wrong---just Increase the Foot pressure to suit the thin or thicker fabric...much more simple---for all Stitches, not only straight
