I just got mine today and the steam works but it’s not hot so don’t expect this thing to sanitize and area or deep clean because the cool steam is just less water for fast drying but you shouldn’t be able to hold you hand in the path of the steam for 30 seconds and not get burned.

Jury is out for me on this new product. Reviews of other portable Bissell cleaners with water heating include common complaints that the heating element is weak and doesn't heat the water much, if at all. I would hope as a more steam-focused product, this is built with superior components. But frankly, I suspect it doesn't do a great job with grout, nor is it a realistic use case to be cleaning soccer shoes from the back of your van, or having it handy on your bathroom window ledge to clean up a toothpaste/makeup spill on your marble bathroom countertop which can be completely cleaned with the wipe of a paper towel. The SpotClean Pro may be the better value here, it does all the same "Need to Haves" as this machine while lacking only the more rarely used, fringe functions - and $65 cheaper at the time I'm writing this.
