love these two. And COMPLETELY understand how Sholto felt, being too close to the work to be able to 'see' it. It just underlines his bravery. So many good wishes for these wonderful men.

Just love this couple! What a wonderful tribute to their relationship! It brings one comfort to know that each family member will be taken care of if the other transcends! That's a lesson more couples should learn!

One of my favorite builds, the character and open atmosphere is so inviting.

I think the decision to have the open truss ceiling should have been made prior to ordering the housing package. I think having a heavier truss spaced farther apart would have been spectacular. Hindsight is always easy

The bowing of the kitchen island was a happy accident. What with so much angularity everywhere, it softens the hard straight large spaces just with that slight big curve.

I could see myself living in this space very well, it's rough and bold but fits in the place it's built and the people living in it so well.
Only little detail I should change is to polish and seal the top of the island, makes it more hygienic.

In Scotland, a house with a vaulted ceiling would be bloody cold in the winter without lots of additional heating. This is because all of the heat would rise to warm the high ceiling, leaving the living floor space cold.

They should’ve definitely gone with a concrete polished flooring And that island is absolutely epic if I could replicate in every house I design. only problem I do have is with horrendous echo that you cannot possibly handle for longer than 10 minutes.

A personal stamp is thinking out of your box and listening to others & making the decision. If you are going to take the jump and do this then bloody well do it. Piers is extreme is some ways but has to be to push them further and meet half way. Wow what a location !

It's a little too raw for me. Seeing the steel connections on the wood trusses and the rocky-air bubble filled kitchen counter in the middle of a large room is well cabin like. With that in mind a smaller home with buildins would have had a better chance of coming in under budget. I have thought of using stained and poly-acrylic-ed plywood to cover standard trusses or use planed glue laminated wood beams for the roof supports. This would have had to been designed into the house in the beginning, an option that the owners didn't have after committing to the kit house. I would have either used more of a ferro-cement concept for the kitchen counter with plastic in the form to create a smooth surface for the top. (it can create a glassy looking surface) Itt could have been built less chunking and more elegantly and thin shelled. a change in flooring could have separated the kitchen from the dining room, and dining room from the living room with perhaps a few poly carbonate or colored fiber glass plastic barriers. Hind sight is always with 20/20 (perfect) vision and not everyone can visualize a house interior or exterior before it becomes reality. In all these shows the well and long thought out design always gets built under or at budget. These guys kind of made it up as they went.

That octagonal entrance hall is odd. Not necessary - and all those double doors! eeeks. Fabulous location - bonnie Scotland!

Very interesting. The music made some of the commentary inaudible and was completely unnecessary. Overall though - a good and informative video.
