You Need To Watch This Before The Total Solar Eclipse on April 8

A total solar eclipse is coming to North America and its path of totality will sweep across the US, Mexico, and Canada. The maximum duration of totality will be about 4 minutes and 28 seconds, twice that of the 2017 Great American Eclipse. While totality will be visible from 15 American states, a partial eclipse can be seen from all 48 contiguous American states, with the next opportunity not arising until 2045. What's even more exciting this time is that during the total phase of the eclipse, there's a chance to see a comet returning after 71 years.

Comet 12P Pons-Brooks, also known as the Devil Comet, will be close to the Sun on April 8. If the comet's brightness increases in the days leading up to the eclipse, it's going to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a comet when the Moon completely covers the Sun during the day. Besides the comet, you can even spot the brightest planets in the sky that will appear during the eclipse's total phase.

Merciful God, I lift up to you those who are suffering from illness or pain. Grant them comfort in their time of need and surround them with your healing grace. May your divine touch bring relief and restoration to their bodies, minds, and spirits.

Isn’t it remarkable that the sun, the moon and the earth are all the perfect circumstances and the perfect distance from each other to create this spectacular event. This is no coincidence. Everything God creates is created to perfection.

On the 8th of this month I’ll witness my second total eclipse.
First in 1956, when I’m 10 years old in the Philippines.

Something I learned back in the mid 90s, don't cut your grass during an eclipse. I worked for a lawn/landscape company and some of our clients had lawns that grew very little due to natural growth methods(no fertilizers, sprinklers, etc.). One of these accounts was well known as an easy job due to these methods. However, on the day of the eclipse, it was not an easy job. As a crew, we decided to work throughout the eclipse instead of taking a small break and that was a huge mistake. What normally took 2 workers to complete in 15 minutes, it took 4 hours to finish. The clippings laid so heavy, we had to rake and remove the excess clippings from the entire yard. I had been cutting this yard for 5 years and not once did I have to spend extra time fixing such a mess. That's until the day of the eclipse. I even called the Boss and had him come look at what had happened and even he was in disbelief. The place looked as if it had been an unkept hay field and had been bush hogged with a pair of dull child scissors. It looked terrible!! Fast forward decades later to 2017, I had my own lawn care business and my Daughter was my coworker. We had one account that didn't grow well and we'd cut it every other week to keep it looking trimmed and even. It was the easiest yard on the entire list. On the day of the eclipse in 2017, I was telling her about what happened years earlier and she didn't believe me. We happened to have the easy yard that day and I deliberately held off until the eclipse to show her. Since she was the one who normally cut this job, while I trimmed everything else, I let her cut it during the event. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw how heavy the clippings were, even for late August!! Thank goodness she decided to stop cutting when she saw what was happening. We waited until the eclipse was done to finish the place and the only spot that laid heavy was what was cut during the event. Everything cut before and after looked just fine. Most of us already know that the moon controls the tides and how it affects water, but have you ever thought about how it might affect everything else as well? Especially during an eclipse?? If not, I'll bet you are now. lol

If you dont have eclipse glasses you can use a welding mask. Or take a cardboard box big (2'x2') cut a 3" dia hole in one side. Place tin foil over the hole. Take a pin and puncture a hole in the center. Place a white paper on the opposite side. Put the box over your head and turn the tin foil side up at the sun. Look at the paper other side and see the sun on it. Its a camera lens effect. We did this as kids back in the 60's.

Don't forget the shadow bands that occur right before and right after totality. Lay out a sheet on the ground for viewing affect. Take video, it will blow your mind.

I've witnessed one total eclipse in my life...the darkness fell, the tempreture seemed to drop instantly and all the birds stopped singing - I felt a truly primal fear, (and I understood what was going on)...I can only imagine what our ancestors felt when they witnessed these things without the knowledge of what was happening.

Fun Fact: Jupiter is the only other planet in our solar system that has total solar eclipses.

This is the best explanation of the Eclipse. So many activities to do when this happens, and a great learning experience for new scientists. My grandkids will love this.

I can’t wait! My house is literally in the path of totality, so I don’t have to travel for this one! I will get to experience 3 minutes and 48 seconds just in my front yard. If I drive 25 mins north, I can experience the full 4 minutes. I am super stoked! ❤

If something happens during the eclipse, and they say it's because of the eclipse, then it's not because of the eclipse.
