Matt nice review. FYI: I tried a few other brand Li Ion 1.5VDC rechargeable AA batteries in a portable AM/FM Radio. On FM they work fine. However on AM all I get is noise/static. These batteries have an internal switching type buck converter to step the voltage from 3.7 to 1.5VDC. The converter architecture uses a high frequency signal that generates considerable EMI. Try the ones in your video on the AM band & report back to us. Keep up the good work!

you can get double the amount of "eneloop" rechargeable NIMH batteries for the same price.. they hold over 2100 mah, which is over double the capacity @ same voltage, they are good for over 2100 recharge / discharge cycles. yes you will need a charger but there are compact and lightweight chargers that are inexpensive. this is a novelty sort of thing which while it seems like a good idea and may have certain niche uses, makes a lot of sacrifices in the core aspects of what makes a battery useful, namely how much energy it holds / how long it lasts. still neat tho.

Have you tried these batteries in a portable radio? I have tried competing brands & all of them overload the front end of a Radio when set to AM. It is most likely due to the DC-DC “buck” converter which is inside the battery & lowers the voltage from 4.2 to 1.5. The converter uses a high frequency switching supply & this signal generates EMI which overloads the AM Radio front end amplifier/detector. FM seems to work OK since it is not susceptible to noise.

What about aa batteries that you can charged wireless? With a charger pad? So you can just put your night light or what ever on the charging pad? The only option I have now is to drill a hole in the nigh light (it's Toad (one up) from Mario but it only works on batterie's so we need to replace them every other day if you actually use it) and use an connect an external charger. But that damages the light. Since the batteries are at the bottom it would be very cool if we could insert special AA baterries that can be charged via induction.

I bought the AA, which arrived today. They don’t work. They have been charged until the red light went off, but they don’t power anything. Doesn’t matter the size of the item, these batteries will not power it. I tried plugging them back in to different USB chargers—the red lights came on, the lights went off, and still nothing.

They don't come pre-charged. I have one battery brand new AA plugged in for 3+ hours and it's still lighting up red and I don't know if it's charged or not since there are no instructions.

You mentioned the capacity, but made no remark on how _tiny_ that is! It is less than half of what you get from a common NiMH cell, and a fraction of a primary battery.
Also, the "memory effect" you mention at the beginning is a myth. The degradation noticed in the early days is due to over charging. Modern chargers are "smart", and NiMH handle overcharging much better than NiCd anyway.
Instead, if this is based on an internal lithium cell, you have different problems you did not mention at all, namely it will be destroyed if over-discharged from leaving it unused for a long time.

Interesting idea. What kind of battery technology these use? Because they are 1.5 V, they can’t be of NiCd or NiMH. I believe these are lithium based which explains the light weight. You have a circuit which converts the battery voltage to 1.5 V and you have a headroom which allows the voltage being stable. What do you think? BTW; you could turn your background music off because it leaks to the video audio.

I've had that same keyboard for years. Best media centre keyboard by a small margin. I've had a Logitech k400 for 10 years, which would be better, because of the replaceable receiver, but the touch pad does not support gestures.

Those batteries look awesome btw, I will buy some to replace my Nickel Cadmium

I’ve been seeing these USB rechargeable batteries for a while now. And i’m in doubt in buying any of those since they are pretty lightweight.

I wonder if they can power a high-drain devices like digital cameras and r/c toys. 🤔

Can you check if the battery produce noise. can you open it? Maybe they are lipo with step up converter or step down i guess.
