300 Calvary - Sacred Harp Singers of Cork, Ireland

Every Thursday a group of Sacred Harp singers meet upstairs at the Camden Palace, Cork to sing between 7 and 9 pm.

Every time I feel a bit slack or tired, without energy and feeble I watch this version of Calvary and I get a boost of life, really. And even after 100+ viewings it still works. Thanks a lot CorkSacredHarp. And if there are more recordings from the prehistory of CorkSacredHarp, please put them on line. Because although you all succeeded in maintaining a high level of energy in your video's until the last ones of 2020, the enthusiasm of the beginning, as in this video, is still a degree superior. I was just visiting Ireland from Turkey a few weeks ago. I wish I had known about this. I hope to go back soon. Maybe I shall see you all this summer.

May the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ pour down upon all who sing here, both at this church and at their homes, singing along.   If the Holy Spirit is ever to move upon this sorry earth again, it will be through sacred harp singing and throwing the rest of the rock band equipment, blasting nothing but worldly noise in every church on the planet, into the sea.  That'll be the day the Holy Spirit returns.  Until then, I thank my God for the brothers and sisters who have preserved His real music.  And thanks to the movie Cold Mountain--a MUST SEE MOVIE--for bringing me to search out sacred harp music I didn't even know existed!  God is Good.
