CORRECTION! The answer to Question 18 is 1.2, not 3.2. Forgot to subtract the length of the hypotenuse of the smaller triangle to get the difference between the length of the smaller hypotenuse and the larger hypotenuse.

Sorry for the confusion!

Question 52 1:31:20 can be time consuming. To save time, identify the center of the circle first which is (-5, 0). Then for each coordinate in the answer choices, subtract the center (corresponding x and y values). As a quick approximation of the distance of the point to the center of the circle, add the absolute value of the difference in x and the difference in y. We have
A. 0, 5 = 5
B. 6, 0 = 6
C. -4, 2 = 6
D. -2, 4 = 6
E. -3, 6 = 9
We already know that the answer is E. To verify, apply Pythagorean. 9 + 36 = 45 which is larger than the given radius (squared) 40.

Thank you so much! I do believe there is a mistake on Question 18. The question asks how much longer the hypotenuse is, not the length of the hypotenuse. I believe the answer should be 1.2

I'd kill for my actual ACT math tests to be as easy as this one haha

For 38, you can just do 2(768) = 1536 = 6l^2, find l which is 16, and then your ratio would be 16:8 —> 2:1.

Also for 56, if you want to do it faster, just take the “jumps” in spots between 40 & 8, which is 32, times that by the difference (3.5), which gives 112. Finally add the 35 from the 8th term, to get 147.

Solving the problems more logically might help save some time especially if your mind blanks during testing :)

If you are confused in Question 19 34:50, the equation when the average is increased by 8 is
(SUM + X)/5 = SUM/5 + 8
X/5 = 8
X = 40
The idea here is to setup the equation as quickly as possible.
