Hi guys and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melissa and I have been a police officer for over 16 years now! I am currently a lieutenant in a large metropolitan police department and I created this video to discuss why people are disqualified in the police application process!

In this video, we will discuss some of the things that could disqualify you from the police application process, however you never know until you ask or try!

I really appreciate you making these videos. I applied to be an ECO but I now realize I won’t make it through. I regrettably listened to bad advice to lie about drug use on my application. I said no to any drug use on my F3, but I am a frequent medical marijuana user and I thought if I stopped using, I would pass the medical evaluation by the time I got to it and everything would be fine. I see now how dumb that was because I didn’t know about the CVSA asking those questions. I have been sent a conditional job offer but now knowing this I don’t see a point on going forward.

I was really looking forward to possibly going into this position because I have always dreamed of helping people in trouble. I don’t want to give up, especially because after listening to your video, marijuana use is the one thing that would disqualify me (and deciding to lie about it 😞)


The question I have now is if I withdraw from the application process now to save myself the shame, will I be disqualified from reapplying? How long is acceptable to not use marijuana?

Thank you for being so open about and honest about your experiences and helping other get into law enforcement. I’m currently a dispatcher and have seriously been thinking about becoming a police officer, probably for a little over a year now. I’m 26, but depending on exams (civil service) and the academy, I would probably be about 28-29 by the time I’m off FTO. Do you think that’s too late for a female? I want a family and have been so torn since I want to follow my passions while also being realistic. Thank you in advance 😊

Maybe you can help me out. I watch a lot of bodycam arrest videos and I often hear double beep sound. It sounds something like a loud "Bziip Bziip" and its heard even when an officer is outside of her or his car. At first I thought it was incoming sms but I couldn't find anything similar on my iphone. Is it a radio or does this alert sound comes from bodycam itself?

Hello I am 44 years old and since I was 28 my wife and I were dedicated to full time Christian Ministry, preaching and teaching the Bible. Recently I drove a truck for a company for three months and I resigned because I didn’t like it and the salary was no good.
So, could that be negative for my application form…???
