Epidemiology 101

This session provides an overview of epidemiology. The science of epidemiology is a systematic approach to collecting and evaluating information on distributions of health outcomes in populations. Topics covered in this course include the definition and roles of epidemiology in public health, a comparison of descriptive vs. analytic epidemiology, and basic epidemiologic concepts used to understand the relationship between exposures, behaviors, and health outcomes. This session aims to encourage participants to think like an epidemiologist.
