Being deployed as an army sniper, and losing so many good friends, and almost dying so many times. Both in the service, and outside of it. I’ve never thought that I’d live long enough to see a day that I would find a way to forgive myself for living.

I’ve lost so many friends, both from combat, disease, and chance. I was never meant to live to begin with. My father got a vasectomy, yet I’m still here. I’ve been blown up and shot at - yet I’m still here.

I’ve had my head cracked open twice, got stitches, and bled out a lot. Yet I’m still here. I’ve become an alcoholic, and have taken so many shots. Both as a sniper, and to forget everything. Yet I’m still here.

I’ve survived a highly abusive relationship, and an abusive father. I’ve walked on burning coals, and been chastised, chased, attacked, sexually molested, and beaten up then choked to the point I’ve valued dying.

Yet I’m still here. Hope still exists for me. Just as much as I hope it still does for you. As long as we live, there’s always hope for something so much better than yesterday.
