City Crews Flushing Fire Hydrants

Показать описание
If you've seen a little rust or sediment in your tap water recently, not to worry, utility crews are out flushing fire hydrants in the city.
Crews have been out working east of Highway 10. They're flushing a little more than 1,600 fire hydrants, working out from the Northdale water treatment plant. This vital project started April 10th and should wrap up next week.
"We find a few out of service every spring when we flush due to salt or just age, or been hit maybe by a plow or a car," says Kory Jorgensen, utilities supervisor. "We flush to remove build-up in the mains, discolor the pipes to remove iron and maganese that has built up and it helps to keep clear water in the system."
Before you do a load of laundry, check to make sure the water is running clear. City officials want you to know that the water is tested, often, and is safe to drink.
Last year, crews found and repaired 27 hydrants.
