We will never see another singer-songwriter even near the quality and musical energy/artistry of Paul Simon ever again. He, in my humble opinion, is the absolute best singer-songwriter in human history. He wrote this song in 1969!, very early in his career, and it was evident that he was born a master and is now a living legend. The Boxer to me is Paul's masterpiece. Music doesn't get any better than this. Thank you Paul.

I was in the London tube tunnels a week or two ago and there was a busker playing Simon and Garfunkel tunes by himself with a single amp and guitar. I threw a few quid in his cap and stayed a while....just to listen to what was my father's music. My dad died 3 years ago, but he'll always live through this music. His music. Your music. Our music.

It's hard to hear his voice growing weak. He's always been a comfort to me. I need him to be immortal.

Paul singing "The Boxer" in his 80s gives me the same goosebumps I got back in 1960s as a child. I appreciate everything about this.

The reasons we may cry hen watching this are many, but it’s largely because we all recognize, after what the world has been through these six years, that we need more beauty, more humanity. This music puts us in touch with that.

Beautiful. We'll be losing these folks soon, the giants of songwriting of the 60s and 70s. I don't know if it's just because their songs are ingrained in me since childhood or the nature of our fragmented digital media, but I'm not sure we'll ever see the likes of them and their work ever again, where a multi-generational crowd knows these songs and can sing along like this.

Overwhelming. As huge fans of Paul Simon, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats & (especially) Robert Ellis, this blows mind.

Paul Simon is one of those rare artists where if you go past the hits and listen to the album's deep cuts you are never disappointed

Even though Pauls Fastball isn't what it used to be I will always remember How every one of S&G's albums eclipsed the previous one Leading up to their Masterpiece. Bridge Over Troubled Waters and How Paul continued with His solo hits of the seventies and 80s.. Very nostalgic having him perform for a new audience while the sun sets over his shoulder. Peace and god Bless you Paul!

this brought tears to my eyes, joyful tears. What a honor for those there to be on stage with this master of music.

I saw Merl Haggard year before he died , He was so old had a hard time at first hearing him. Then the crowd took over showing, We didn't come to hear him sing . . . . We came to sing with him ❤️

This year’s Newport folk festival must’ve been one of the best by the looks of the lineup

Watching this, you can feel the energy. Between this and Joni Mitchell's appearance.... it seems as if the 2022 Newport Folk Festival will go down in history as one of THE epic events. The opportunities are waning. Cheers to my alternate hometown for making this still happen every year... and for making it meaningful. Wish I had been there.

I'm sure many of them grew up idolizing Paul, they will always be able to tell their children or grandchildren that they helped Paul Simon sing The Boxer one night.

In my younger days I use to wonder why folks didn't hang it up before they started to decline. In my younger days, when I lived mostly on the surface of things. I can't think of enough accolades to say about him. but what's most amazing is that when he was a young buck his music spoke to not only his generation, but all generations to come. This festival represented all of them, in their presense in their voices, & in their joy !
