This is actually kind of scary. I mean, I can barely navigate down my driveway without using Google maps. In a few years, if this "indoor navigation" catches on, I won't be able to find my way out of a room without it.

This would be great for people who are new to college and university and have trouble finding rooms.

If they want to impress me, show them using it at Ikea.

Google should make some sort of headset and call it google glass so you don't have to carry your phone around using Project Tango.

This technology is really impressive but it seems people are spending too much time looking at their screens as it is. Going to a museum or gallery and looking at the exhibitions through your screen somehow seems to defeat the purpose of being there....or being anywhere. You may as well just sit at home and watch tv.

I could imagine this being an app by Google one day..

I think the potential for blind people to use a form of this technology is pretty cool. Yes, I realize they wouldn't be able to see the screen, which is why I said a FORM of this technology.

I am not sure about this indoor mapping thing being hit with a tablet or a phone. This sort of thing is the domain of Google Glass, or was the

So... Instead of discovering things with our own eyes, we'll be looking at a tiny screen for now on. Funny that he was at a museum and didn't REALLY saw any painting...

So instead of looking at large pantings you are looking on 5-10" display? The you pan the whole wall trying to find those dots for additional content? Yeah, i don't see that catching on.
If you want to make museum more "alive" AR (with light weight goggles) is the only way to go. Well, at least 'til interactive holograms come along.

The only interest for google is to gather data of your house, products that you have clothes, colors that you prefer etc. and the way they market it, "look at this cool tech". They needed this project because streetview couldnt come in your house and they don't have enough staff to record it.

So will Google pay the People that participate or will they just take all the data & profit from it themselves?

i know google failed us with the google glass, and let bad PA ruin it for everyone, but they could still release a version of that tech in good ways. I wear a hard hat and respirator and ear protection and eye protection all the time at work and home. It sure would be nice if google put some of this tech together in firefighter helmets, motorcycle helmets, work PPE, etc. It could warm the market up for google glass. some other company is just going to come along and sell a better version of all this mapping, nav, HUD, voice stuff if they don't.
