My new Siglent SDS1204X-E, 4 channel 200MHz scope with really useful Web Control feature.

I have needed a 200MHz scope for some time (actually, I've wanted one - not quite the same thing), and I now have one. I bought it from Welectron, and they did give me a discount as it will appear often and prominently on my channel.
However, there is one feature that I couldn't resist highlighting. It's called Web Control, and I'm finding it extremely useful for reasons that Siglent designers may not have planned when they added it to this series of oscilloscopes.
Web Control allows me to view and control the scope in real-time from a browser. It connects to my network and allows me two access it via a generated IP address. Having the scope screen on my screen, as it were, allows me to do screen recording to show the scope when I want it to appear on my video. It's really cool and hassle-free, so will come in very handy.
I'm sure that I'll find many more reasons to talk about this scope in future videos, but this feature got me really excited, so I couldn't wait.
Visit Welectron and have a look at some of the cool stuff they sell. I've bought my Brymen multimeters from them, as well as a few accessories that I use constantly, so I'm much more a customer than a guy that got a discount :)

I am very happy for you. You're really going to like that new scope! I have the two channel little brother to it and it is a great tool. Can't wait to see what you selected as a signal source, but I think I have an idea.

Since I usually watch YT videos through TV I can't comment, allow me to say that I've been watching your channel for quite some time now, years. You along with x-raytonyb, Dave Tipton, and Buddy at The Radio Shop are among my most favorite YT electronics repair channels. Great job and content ranging from reading and understanding schematics, the engineering behind the circuits, and good troubleshooting procedure. Two thumbs up if it were possible on YT. Well done. Please keep them coming. Watching content like this on YT is superior to anything regular TV has to offer, Covid-19 or not.

This is a really useful feature! I need to simplify my filming process in the lab a lot. At the moment, I film every perspective seperately with my camera and edit it together, using davinci resolve - but this takes a hell of a time...
By the way: I just watched a lot of your videos, and I really like what you're doing. And, being german, I love it if you say: "This component is kaputt" 😂
Keep up the good work!

Good to know that the LAN connection can work reliable and fast, as I have seen that Rigol for instance has HDMI output, but I too lean heavily towards Siglent.

That is great, I have the SDS 1052DL model, it is only 50mhz and 2 channel but I think it is very similar as well. I can't wait to follow along, mine is capable of putting on my network as well.

Excellent, thank you. Showed me exactly what I wanted to know. For some reason the PDF manual for this scope doesn't mention the web server at all.

The LAN access is extremely useful and gives a great picture. Siglent make some very nice test kit. I’m sure it will be a very useful bit of kit. Cheers graham

I gave my son my Hantek for Christmas last year. I am just an old CRO man I guess. That is, indeed, a nice feature for your use case.

DORA - Discover Offer Request Acknowledge is the sequence of IP address assignment. DHCP addresses are offered by a DHCP server (usually in a home setup - your router does it). A self-generated IP address is called an APIPA address, usually starts with 169.254.x.x

Another scope cool. I can see how it will make your youtube streaming easier. I thought for sure you would look for an FM stereo generator or a distortion analyzer or a spectrum analyzer. Myself I ordered a TinySA...it is a nice stocking stuffer toy.

Nice oscilloscope. I love good testgear.
Usualy I power my oscilloscope via an isolation transformer. Simply to keep me away of accidentelly shorting anything to earth. Back then the other day I connected the LAN-Cable to the oscilloscope and to my surprise the oscilloscope GND was earthed via the PC and the LAN cable shielding. Simply something to be check on this oscilloscope and to be aware of.

Can you do a video on how low the noise floor is please. Form a loop such that the earth lead is clipped to the probe tip, select trigger to AC and attenuation at say 20mV/cm or better and go round the scope to see if you can detect the hash from the internal switchmode and workout how far the noise is propagating....

Nice looking scope there Manuel, mine has a USB interface but haven't tried it yet. The web interface would be much better, well done 🙂

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 4-channel scope. My 2-channel Siglent SDS 1202X-E has worked well, but my new 1204X-E looks great. Still trying to become one with the features. Your video answered a key question: how to get the scope controls to display. Couldn't find that info anywhere. On my 1202 I could click on the browser screen a button to save the scope image as a .bmp file, but so far I haven't found an equivalent feature on the 1204. I can do a print screen, but that button on the 1202 saved some steps. Does the 1204 have such a function?

Hello Sir, I just invested in a Siglent SDS1202X-E which is a two channel scope. I have never operated an oscilloscope before and would like to know if you could point me to one of your videos that would be informative for a new-comer to this hobby. I am only interested in old tube radios at this time.

Thank you for your excellent and informative videos.

Nice scope! I was wondering when you'd trade up your old Rigol. I have the Rigol's big brother, the DS1054Z (with DS1104Z firmware), and like it a lot. Probably not as feature-rich as the Siglent but it, too, has a Web UI. I've not tried it yet but it's on my list to learn as I teach myself the scope's more advanced features. So much has changed since I went to university. BTW, what screen recording software do you use?
