The Non-Canon Expert explains whether Thrawn would ever consider joining the Rebel Alliance based upon what we know about the Chiss Grand Admiral within the current Canon.

Thrawn is a Chiss first and whatever else second. If joining the rebellion somehow ultimately benefits the Ascendancy he might do it but I personally see no benefit. The Chiss (how I remember it) are a militaristic aristocratic society that is very strict and disciplined. I can see him USING the rebellion for something but not actively supporting their cause.

Good video... i've always wondered this as his motives for more pure than the evil damage

In Legends the New Republic was pretty much one of the only saint governments to ever rule the Galaxy, because they indeed learn a lot of the mistakes of the Old Republic and the Clone Wars, if he would have given it a little more though he may have indeed join them.

Thrawn is in the SW galaxy only to find ally’s to keep the Chiss Ascendency Safe and the Rebels don’t really have the assets to help the chiss but, I agree on how Wolfheri K sees it as the rebels are basically a bunch of boys and girls whom used to go fishing together and now picked up a blaster and started shooting at a well trained well organized army

One thing the new Canon books made clear is the Chiss’s political system is not as stable as it was. The implication in “Alliances” is the Houses may be tipping towards civil war, and Thrawn is out looking for some way to stop it. I don’t know if he’d join the Rebellion, but I think he might temporarily ally himself with some individuals if he thought it was in his best interest. In the end he’d be on his own side.

I would never say I am a Chiss expert, but when I saw the title of this video my first thought was "Thrawn would never join the Rebels."

I was wondering, if Thrawn was so smart, calculating and had alot of foresight, then how did he end up being betrayed and killed?

Given Thrawn’s unparalleled tactical prowess, I have no doubt he would’ve been an extremely valuable to the Rebellion. That is if Thrawn chose to join them.

but in current cannon hes stuck out in space with ezra and i feel like they are gonna become bros and save the chiss ezra is a rebel and I feel like he would join them if ezra helped the chiss

He might join the Resistance, because of some of the lore I seen and watching Resistance the Chiss Ascendancy could be in the First Order's kill list.

Your analysis makes perfect sense with the new Canon. Thrawn would see the government of the new Republic forming in the Aftermath trilogy as bound to fail. As soon as he learned of operation Cinder, and Thrawn would probably piece that together just before Palpatines death, he would've bailed on the Empire as well. His plan B was always to try redirecting the threats of the unknown region away from the Ascendancy and into known space.

Even with Ezra's actions removing both of them from known space for more than 6 years, Thrawns priority would be the safety of the Ascendancy above all else.

I don't forsee Thrawn under any circumstance joining the Rebel Alliance. Pellaeon would more than likely defect before Thrawn would even consider such a thing. However, if Thrawn did defect to the Rebel Alliance at least in regards to Star Wars Legends such defeats like Hoth and the disaster at DeepSpace Besh never would have happened not to mention the Rebels would likely get knowledge and navigational maps to the Unknown Regions and more than likely a base of operations in the Unknown Regions. Not to mention in addition to battling the existing Warlord factions in the post-ROTJ era the Rebels/New Republic can likely perform a buildup to prepare for the Vong thanks to Thrawn's insight.

Love your channel, other star wars channels go too off base...they're really starting to aggravate me these days. You stay on base and ask the questions and give the facts we really want to know.

Maybe. The real question is: Do Chiss tan?

I always wonder if in canon they will have thrawn form another Empire of The Hand again as a precaution like in Legends.

If I were convinced the Alliance, and later the New Republic would be beneficial to the Chiss as an ally? Yes, I would. Otherwise, no.
