One Europe, One driving licence

January 2013 will see the introduction of a European driving licence as part of the entry into force of the third EU Driving Licence Directive. The new credit-card style format will replace some 100 paper and plastic models currently in use by more than 300 million drivers across the EU.

Latvian here. We're introducing a new driving licence that has written Latvian text all over it. I assume that French licences are going to have French text and and German- German text and so on. My point is. Why would someone living in the country and knowing what driving licence looks like, why don't they have english text writen on it. French, Latvian and German driving licences... Foreigners look at my licence and look for tiny English letters somewhere.

The idea is that you have a little number next to a field of information.. All the field of information will be same - This means that the first name will be on the same place either if it's french, latvian or german...

unify driving licences is the best option for driving all over the countries!!!! :)
