Undiscerned Spiritual Pride - Jonathan Edwards

Pride is much more difficult to be discerned than any other corruption because of its very nature. That is, pride is a person having too high an opinion of himself. Is it any surprise, then, that a person who has too high an opinion of himself is unaware of it? - Jonathan Edwards

Is there ever a time where we need pride? Like taking pride in your work or who you are is a man? I’m unemployed live at home and I’m still pursuing my goals and dreams. I feel God has led me to pursue. Hard not to think that there isn’t pride involved. It’s kind of what motivates me to do anything in my life because I don’t wanna be viewed as a loser anymore and I want to be successful and be able to bless those around me.

when we see the true nature of the Cross we know that we have nothing to be proud of, and apart from Jesus we are nothing.. our pride and joy is Jesus and to walk by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

This is why spiritual pride is so dangerous. Even if you are a prophet that is %95 right. If you have %5 pride in you, there will be spiritual destruction in your life.

Any tips or suggestions if we see hints of this in ourselves? Interestingly, most of the points, I find completely gross, but then others, I can relate to, while knowing that a recent victorious battle has caused me to feel stronger than I am -without Christ. :/ I want make sure to get back to and remain in my proper place ♡

This is good and can be helpful just like the sermon, but lists can be bad. All scriptures that has to do with pride come down to the heart of the matter. (Daniel 5:20) One of the examples mentioned that looking at the fault of others is pride and that humble man is too busy looking at his own sins. I don't agree because accountability requires looking at others fault. You can do both.The Christian isn't constantly examining looking at his own faults either. The spirit of God will reveal that in a person as in the other person.

You know what… Seeing this after how yesterday(July 24, 2023) went… And when understanding the nature of a certain person recently, this is just confirmation that I wasn’t going crazy. 👀🤔🧐
So now I must keep praying for and working for humility, and when the time is right I’ll cut someone down.

I find it very ironic the FULFILMENT of the LAST DAYS CHURCH.

The TWO WITNESSES standing in front of the God of the whole earth.
One is clothed with God"s given glory while the other is NAKED.

The only thing preventing this knowledge to reach the people is PRIDE.

Revelation 17:16 KJV — And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and NAKED, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
