Monument to the Conquerors of Space in Moscow, Russia

This impressive monument to the conquest of space is 107 metres tall (350 feet) and is covered with titanium cladding. In 1958, a few months after the launch of Sputnik, a competition for the monument's design began. If was The grand opening of the monument took place on October 4, 1964, on the day of the 7th anniversary of the Sputnik 1 launch. The monument is located in the northeastern part of Moscow near Prospekt Mira ("Peace Avenue") with VERY easy access from VDNKh subway station (I feature Moscow's subways in my other YouTube videos).
