GOP picks Thune to succeed McConnell as Senate leader

For those of us who are mostly fearful of the institutions of government completely falling apart, I think this is a good thing. I'm not asking much, I just want there to be a country that's neither a complete dictatorship nor total anarchy 4 years from now.

Trump did not stay out of this. He said the new leader needs to be someone who is okay with recess appointments. Meaning, he wants to be able to appoint whoever he wants while congress is not in session and therefore avoid any questioning of who he picks.
