Halland: Good Decision Making

Destroyers are probably the least rng-dependent class in the game. They excel and fail based on decisions made minutes ago. This is why they are a lot of fun for me.

Halland is so awesome, my current fav DD is AL Yukikaze, such high risk/high reward, and the 84 knt torps that hit like freight train yeah they're only 8 k but when they hit omg. And at Tier 8 having God Tier ship concealment to boot. Seeing the Halland torps coming at you is disconcerting to say the least but the F3's are demoralizing when 1-3 can dev strike almost anything. Great vid as usual keep 'em coming!

Reposted on my teams discord page as a reminder for playing smarter, not harder. Plus as training officer, I tell them that Halland line is quick, and the lack of smoke makes you learn positioning more than relying on smoking up all the time.

Halland looked amazing when I was trying to grind for it and even more amazing when I got it. Mine is more Hybrid torp reload with bft, se, ar, si. faster guns more health. Another bonus no smoke so you are always spotting for your team you can't hide in smoke and blind your team. Cvs never fear, yes radar a problem but you know what to look for in those ships

I'm playing EU ranked right now (tier 8 - 9) and I can't explain how much I'm loving it.

I started off playing the fdg and really had a bad time of it. I've switched to Iowa and I can feel my decision making come into play. In fact I would say that of my past 10 ranked games, I have been the sole deciding factor in the outcome of the game. Sure BBs suffer from RNG, but you can minimise it by out positioning the enemy (easy to do when there are only 6/7 players on either side).

I get high calibre, first blood and AA gunner every game (normally shooting down 46 Aircraft with my captain perks). The iowa is quick and stealthy so you can move around map like big cruiser - catching broadsides everywhere. I dont think I'll be going back to random

Wow I hate my Halland, nice to see someone play it so well! Maybe I'll try it again but I doubt it lol. Love my Oland and Ostergotland though. It's the poor maneuverability of Halland that I "hate". I take both rudder shift modules one of which is instead of concealment so I do take captain skill conceal with both my Oland and Oster. I play a-bit nearer to BBs and Cruisers so the shimmy shimmy shake is very much used for how I play my Pan Euro DDs. The maneuverability also helps a-lot for aircraft attacks and I do go after them and often times stir up the bees lol. Great Plays here and no admittedly I can't remember ever getting that high of a score in my Pan Euros. AA expert yes: Many, I protect my team with both torps and AA and also often go it alone on the fringes to torp campers from the sides to pop them out like a cork from a Champaign bottle lol. Being caught alone by a CV is no problem in not having smoke but only with the AA and maneuverability maxed out and of course in being reasonably distanced from ships so my AA maneuvering also effectively provides the shimmy shimmy shake in that my long turns can be flattened in places with my "extra"/more than enough maneuverability for aircraft attacks producing non-predictable U-turns to avoid the inevitable incoming long range ship to ship volleys. Halland just isn't capable enough in this manner which is my play-style. (Note: the now way to powerful Tier 10 CVs with strong captains do beat me up pretty badly and force me to run) lol.
Short ranged main guns? yes I love it for not getting perma-spotted. I love your play style and have learned to use it with my longer range main gun smokers.

One of my favorite tricks to do with gunboat DDs is wait for the enemy to smoke, slide up to the smoke, loose torps, and then light them up and watch them either panic into the torps or melt because they’re busy trying to dodge the torps.
