Welcome to our channel, where we bring you the latest updates on the most thrilling cars in the market.
In a surprising turn of events, the Peugeot 208 has emerged as Europe's best-selling car in 2022, dethroning the long-reigning Volkswagen Golf. This victory was not limited to Europe alone, as the Peugeot 208 also dominated the domestic market in France.
To maintain its strong sales momentum, Peugeot's parent company, Stellantis, has decided to give the subcompact hatchback a significant refresh for the 2024 model year. Taking design cues from the recent facelift of the 2008 crossover, the Peugeot 208 now boasts an updated lion badge. The flagship GT trim level showcases an eye-catching three-claw motif which seamlessly extends into the full LED headlights, creating a captivating visual connection with the vertical bars integrated into the bumper. The grille has also undergone a transformation, featuring a new pattern and body-colored accents that blend harmoniously with the rest of the front fascia.
Inside the cabin, the Peugeot 208 retains its modern and innovative "i-Cockpit" design, which has been highly praised in its segment. All trim levels now come equipped with a standard 10-inch touchscreen, providing a seamless and intuitive infotainment experience. The digital instrument cluster of the same size has received a fresh design and introduces a captivating 3D effect. In the GT model, the base Active version retains its classic analog dials flanking a 3.5-inch display.
The 208 GT receives additional updates, including new ambient lighting and a revised gear shift knob for models equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Peugeot has retained the selector for automatic models introduced in early 2022. The steering wheel has been updated to feature the new logo, and its badge has also received a refresh.
For those seeking a touch of exclusivity, the GT model offers optional black Alcantara upholstery with Adamite green stitching, along with Adamite green accents on the armrests and dashboard.
In terms of powertrain options, the Peugeot 208 offers a range of choices. The entry-level variant is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine delivering 75 horsepower through a 5-speed manual transmission. For a more spirited driving experience, a 100-horsepower version is available with a six-speed manual gearbox. Those looking for efficiency can opt for a mild hybrid powertrain available in 100 or 136 horsepower, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The electrified variant, known as the e-208, features an electric motor producing 156 horsepower. It is powered by a 51-kilowatt-hour battery pack, providing an impressive WLTP combined cycle range of 249 miles or 400 kilometers. The e-208 supports rapid charging at up to 100 kilowatts, allowing a quick 20% to 80% charge in under 25 minutes.
Peugeot plans to launch the facelifted 208 in November, marking a new chapter for this popular model. Since its introduction in late 2019, the Peugeot 208 has achieved remarkable success, with nearly 1 million units sold worldwide. With its refreshed design, updated technology, and diverse powertrain options, the Peugeot 208 aims to continue captivating drivers and maintaining its position as a compelling choice in the highly competitive subcompact hatchback segment.
