- at $599, the iPad Air 2020 is $100 more expensive than its predecessor
- you can obviously use it as a simple tablet and not a "computer", but then... you might as well get the iPad 8th gen for $329, it's a fine tablet.

The iPad really shines in the music producing space. Something about a touch screen with Garageband, Cubasis, etc is really intuitive. You can then hand off the Garageband file to the desktop version or even Logic Pro X seamlessly. Beyond all that iPads are seamless and just work flawlessly with every single app I've encountered. By contrast, the android tablet arena is a glitchy hell scape of varying degrees of compatibility. Come to think of it.. so is windows.

The biggest advantage of an iPad over a laptop as your main computer is the specs/power to price ratio (though admittedly not RAM). If you buy a $600 laptop, the processor won't be as good as the A14, it will have worse battery life, be thicker, not last as long overall, have a dimmer screen etc. On the flip side, iPadOS doesn't have all the apps one might need, so it really is a computer for the people who just use Microsoft Office, watch YouTube etc and want something that does those things well and that will last for a long time.

I honestly don’t think an iPad could replace a laptop for me personally. I use my computers for some really out there things that an iPad simply can’t do, or I can find it easier on a proper laptop. However, it is fine for some people though who don’t really need a full fledged computer at all. My uses are very different than some others.
