Each summer the Quinney College of Natural Resources offers paid internships to undergraduate students who want to get their feet wet in a chosen professional field. This year's intern, Grace Johnson (Wildlife Management major), built hands-on experience and practical skills doing fieldwork in the Great Salt Lake Wetlands and at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area.

Her work included surveys of waterfowl and shorebirds, control of invasive weeds like phragmites and collecting and tracking data on animal populations, all in cooperation with knowledgeable mentors from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources – some of which are Aggies themselves.

The QCNR internship program has partnerships with the U.S. Forest Service, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Utah Forestry, Fire and State Lands, National Parks and non-profit agencies to provide these kinds of experiences to students as soon as their freshman year as an integral part of their academic program.

Since 1888, Utah State University established itself as a premier research institution known through the world for its intellectual and technological leadership. USU’s main campus is in Logan, plus 30 campuses throughout Utah. And as long as WiFi is available, you can be an Aggie anywhere through USU Online.

USU competes in 16 NCAA Division I sports. Our student section, the HURD, is one of the loudest and rowdiest in the nation. The diehards become True Aggies by kissing on the block “A” on Homecoming. Adrenaline junkies sled down Old Main hill between classes or rock climb outside. And everyone eats Aggie Ice Cream — even with a foot of snow on the ground.
