with the older truck with 12K GVWR you could get a 3 car wedge and have it de rated to 14K GVWR. Then you could tow 3 cars as long as they are lighter cars, or still do 2 heavier cars or suv's.
But you also have to keep a close eye on the axle weights, DOT can get you there too. I imagine towing 3 cars would be tricky to keep all the axle weights legal. So maybe 2 cars is where it's at for non cdl.

Your big mistake is having a (1) One ton truck !!! Where as you only need a 3/4 ton Diesel truck !! Which a Dodge Ram (1) ton = 3500 and a Dodge Ram (3/4) ton = 2500 both have the same diesel Cummins engine and can pull with the same power . The difference is the truck's GVWR or GVW . Resurch this and you will find out you can haul a fair amount more weight on your trailer and still be good without a CDL !!! Just put a pair of air bags on the truck's rear axle and that will save you money in the (2) Two different size truck's and allow you to haul a fair amount more of weight !!
