I have rented a Soul 4 years ago... loved it... drives better than most cars, great room inside, my wife loved it. Seriously considering buying one as our next car. Highly recommended.

My wife has had hers for several years now and she still loves that car. I've offered to get her a new car, but she refuses. Hers is black with black wheels, factory tinted windows, nav, and the more powerful motor. (It was before the turbo option.) I joked that it is her black Soul to match her black soul. LOL! She picked it over the Honda CRV, a Mercedes, and a couple others we tried. That car just makes her happy.

I like them. Lots of room, comfortable seats, good tech, great warranty, and the base 2.0 liter is plenty. But I bought a 2020 LX model for $17, 500 dollars brand new off the lot right before the covid pandemic took off. The problem is these cars never went for msrp. They were sold way under that price similar to Jeep/Dodge. Ever since the price gouging hit and cars inflated in prices. This car became too much in cost. It isn't worth MSRP because I paid way less than that just 4 years ago. And all my local dealerships are still doing markups on cars. None of them are selling. And now there are too many vehicles collecting dust. At some point, something breaks, and prices drop. Thankfully, my car is paid for and I don't need another one.

No new/newer vehicle is a deal. Bought my very last new in 2002.
