I liked how the wrestler actually went for subs, no lay and pray.

Great summary. Thanks! Nogi has a HUGE intersectionality with wrestling. In today's nogi-world, it's necessary to train wrestling!!! In my humble opinion, a BIG win-win situation for nogi and wrestling!!! Clear example of today is that someone well-trained in wrestling with a few BJJ techniques can dominate a division! The mix of those two arts are amazing. I'm excited to see that!!!

All wrestlers should automatically be bumped up in rank during competition. Sandbagging on level 1000

Hopefully blue belts standard will go up, these people grappled for 8+ years learn enough jiu jitsu for 1-2 years thats 10 years of grappling vs 1-2 years, not surprised at all.

Great job...

Match up 8 or 10 years of wrestling mat time to only jiu jitsu blue belt with only 2-3 years of experience. Who have the advantage?

Mat time is mat time and it does makes a difference.

Good job regardless.

Seems strange to me that 8 years of wrestling + 1-2 years bjj equal to a competition level of blue belt. Is the amount of experience in other grappling disciplines not taken into account?
Would a world class level judoka with 1 year bjj also be allowed to wreck blue belt gi division? :D

@0:28 Guy with the chewy rashguard is a college wrestler. State champ too, was on the pedigo series. Truly shows the different levels to this

Total mat time of less than a minute? Maybe to the purple belt division they should send this fella.

They should at least put’em in purple
Or class them by years of training not by belt
Really impressive tough

I thought no gi tournaments were judged based off years training, not belts? The local tournaments by me are based off years not belts for no gi. Usually it will be below 1yr, 1-3yrs, 3yrs and beyond.

Whoa! What about Brandon Reed... 3x Heavyweight NAIA CHAMP. Took gold in ultraheavy... HOW DID YOU MISS THAT?

A lot of comments about the fairness of wrestlers competing at blue belt. It really does matter how much BJJ they have trained. On day one, any college wrestler will have a takedown game that is better than world class BJJ practitioners, but they will walk blindly into submissions against other white belts. I spent my first month in the gym taking everyone down, but also getting choked out every other roll. My point is, it is entirely possible for a wrestler to be this dominant against blue belts, but still not be ready to jump in with brown or black belts in a tournament. Obviously it is time for some of these competitors to bump up to purple for competition, but my guess is that they will do exactly that. It really is hard to judge how good your game is until you go test yourself against the competition.

NAIA and D2 wrestler winning the blue belt division?! Say it ain’t so? Lol I believe this is what is referred to as sandbagging. Regardless if it be a different sport, that level of grappling should have both of them at the very least competing at the purple belt division.

That first guy seemed to have some decent judo, too.

It's pretty weird to have ppl with heavy wrestling backgrounds compete in blue belt. No fantastic solution to it as also would be unfair to put them in black belt, but it's weird.

I don't understand all the hate on these wrestlers, it's good that they at least also embrace BJJ and it gives them more weapon to their arsenal. But do correct me if I'm wrong. :D

They have submissions in wrestling? Didn’t know that.
