My Reflection and Sunflower by Emmaline Albers

Показать описание
Played at her High School Graduation Recital/Concert 2023
My Reflection
The water ripples
The sunlight’s glare pulls me in
I’m afraid to look down
my heart pounds
I might fall in
So I lean on over
Glancing down upon the water
What I see, Lord?
Are you in my reflection?
My reflection
My image is distorted
Between the currents
of the stream
It’s hard to piece together
And see that you are in me
My reflection is blurred
And every single word
That comes out of my mouth
It makes me doubt
That i’ll find my identity here
Jesus, come and calm the waters
Jesus, let me see you in my eyes
Jesus, pull me closer to your heart
Jesus, let me see you in my eyes
So you can be glorified
So I lean on over
Glancing down upon the water
What I see, Lord?
Are you in my reflection?
My reflection
So let me lean on over
Glancing down upon the water
Let me see you,
In my
reflection
Sunflower
Summer’s golden sunlight
Reaches over the evening sky
It uplifts the downcast soul
Autumn is coming
Bringing some new dreams
Up on out of this world shaken ground
Troubles will come
New blossoms spring up
Hope will not die
In this sunlight
Sunflower bloom and grow on up
Until you touch the sunlight
So reach up into the blue sky, blue sky
You’ll never know until you try
Winter breaks through
It’s cold, i knew it would be tough
Oh, the challenge itself
Is harder than the words that are coming out of your mouth
Troubles will come
New blossoms spring up
Hope will not die
In this sunlight
Sunflower bloom and grow on up
Until you touch the sunlight
So reach up into the blue sky, blue sky
You’ll never know until you try
Storm clouds hover passed
The cold wind comes to match
And the sorrow that we feel
Later on in won’t seem real
How hard it was
How hard it is right now
There’s a moment of hope to catch
When sorrow breathes its last
And you can open up your eyes
And see the morning light
It heals the smallest scars
And points us to the biggest stars
Illuminating my soul
Hope was never gone
Faith seemed so far
But Lord you were never closer to my heart
Troubles will come
New blossoms spring up
Hope will not die
In this sunlight
Sunflower bloom and grow on up
Until you touch the sunlight
So reach up into the blue sky, blue sky
You’ll never know until you try
76 Roses
There were 77 Roses
which you extended out to me
and one by one
by each crimson stained flaw
you took each thorn
I watched you bleed.
all I saw was 76 Roses
once lined up for me
now withering away
beneath the ground
in the grave
no more to be seen
Now, with a rose in one hand
a river flowing from my eyes
my heart can barely stand
for the 77th time
and the last
my hope is dried up
amd withered away
And all I saw was 76 Roses
once lined up for me
now withering away
beneath the ground
in the grave
no more to be seen
every flowers died
every petal went and wilted
in my arms
now I
hide my face
from the view in the window
what a sorry sight
then I saw streams
of golden light pour
through the cracks
and I turned my eyes
to see that
once buried in the ground
once what I thought was lost
was now found
rows and rows of scarlet shaded roses
in hints of golden shimmers from the sun
and all I saw were those 76 Roses
once lined up for me
now rising forth
from the ground
with many more
‘cross the horizon
too far for me to see
oh, I’ve been set free
Who knew it could be?
