Wow. Lot of useful info in this video. Thanks! I have a question. When I remove water from my pond the liner in the lowest areas rises up. Does this mean I have water underneath?

Firstly I would like to thank you guys for inspiring people like me to have a pond. With the help of knowledge you have shared through the videos, I have created a small pond in balcony. Unfortunately it is leaking now. I am facing challanges in identifying where the leak is. Can you guys make a video and give us some tips?

Awesome video where do you get that holding tank at?

Awesome video like allways! I‘m just wondering if spring is the right time to do a cleanout with a fish loaded pond. After the season with no nutrition the fish are quite week and don‘t take stress as good as in the autumn when they are through a season with good nutrition. I‘d rather do a clean out after summer.

I am not a smart man, but I know what beneficial bacteria is, Jen-aye... I mean, Professor.

For instance, although I am not a biologist, I know the amount of beneficial bacteria, or BB, in the water is negligible. That's why it's safe to do a 75% to 95% water change in order to lower the nitrates to acceptable levels - provided the new water's parameters are similar and it's been detoxified (if using city water). BB is primarily found in the filter media, but as the tank or pond matures, that BB can also be found on the walls and in the substrate. You can even find it on the plants and decor. Why put the old water back?

Also, great point on using the pond water to rinse the filter media. Not only to you eliminate the risk of destroying the BB colony happily growing there by not using chlorinated city water, but the slower flow will allow the media to last much longer. My question is, you then switch to power washers to clean out the pond itself. I can only assume you're using City water to do that. I am not as familiar with ponds as I am with aquariums, but I know an annual full teardown and scrubbing is frowned upon and discouraged. Isn't that killing off the majority of the BB you'd otherwise find in there?

These are only questions, not criticism. As notes above, I am not formally schooled in biology not do I have an eco friendly pond (although I plan to change the later). I've been in the aquarium hobby for 40 years though and, some of the differences in maintaining the two bodies of water are pretty startling.

Great video! Keep 'em coming! Looking forward to the next one.

Why don't tou had an air flow inside the biological filter during the hot season to boost bacteria's activities.

Love your ponds guys. But would have to strongly disagree with the way you filter a pond for koi to create optimum conditions. Koi are pooing machines. Ok for a small amount of goldfish maybe
