Fix: Application Was Unable to Start Correctly (0xc0000142) in Office 2019/2016.

This tutorial contains instructions to resolve the following error in Windows 10, 8 or 7 OS. "The Application was unable to start correctly, (0xC0000142). Click OK to close the application". The error 0xc0000142 commonly occurs when you try to launch an outdated or corrupted program and in most cases the solution to resolve the error 0xc0000142, is to update the program in which the error occurs.

In other cases, the 0xc0000142 problem can be caused by a virus infection, due to problematic graphics card drivers, or because a Windows update has not installed correctly.

The following problem occurred after installing updates to a Windows 10 based PC with Office 2019: All MS Office applications doesn't open and display the error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application".

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops,and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Good video! I actually had this problem this morning. The only issue I see with this video is that 1:35 - 3:13 basically need to be cut out. Maybe the typos, as well should be addressed, but that's not a big deal. I'm on Windows 10, and I actually went to the Start Menu>Settings and found the Apps section where I typed in Office. In otherwords, I got to the same place. It looks like you can accomplish the exact same thing using the Control Panel app, as well: Control Panel>Programs and Features, search for "Office", select it and and click "Change". This will also yield the same window shown at 1:13.

I'm getting the 142 message when I try to open any Office app. I've followed your steps but there is no "modify" selection, all I see is "move" or "uninstall" Your help would be greatly appreciated.
