It's a shame they haven't fitted proper cab blinds as these are expensive and deserve something less Heath Robinson 😢

We are considering a SH.

Having a freezer would be a definite plus point but even more so the ability to heat using electricity. If you are a site where you have paid for electricity having to pay for diesel too would be a bit annoying.

Nice thanks. I always thought that Sven had a flat floor till the cab

If the person from Westfalia were a salesman he would not sell a single van.

I’m probably biased owning the current version but I wouldn’t want to change our fridge it’s one of the best fridges we have ever had in a van, the exterior colour is lovely the interior colour doesn’t excite me or make me wish we had thet scheme.
One more thing our control panel is the simplest of simple panels.
I remember when our California’s panels got the upgrade it was good but had its glitch’s ..
If it’s not broken don’t fix it.
Looks a bit like an after thought tbh.

A few points, what's happened to the cutlery drawer which currently sits above the fridge doors? I'm guessing that means a loss of space elsewhere?? Currently use custom made sink cover which adds to countertop space, which I put my heavy Ecoflow Delta on sometimes. Feel glass tops wouldn't support very heavy weight and is a step back. Definitely prefer the new colour display on the new SH, also the option to run from electric.
Overall not really a quantum leap forwards, which is reassuring from a residuals point of view.

We don't own a SH but seen a few but went to the show to compare it with the new Westfalia James Cook. Different propositions and price points but in many ways both had a similar feel i.e. very Westfalia. On the MAN stand was the new cab/dash layout which looked nice and typically VW i.e. simple and uncluttered. We were hoping that the facelift for the SH would have extended to the bathroom with the loo separated from the shower area. This is on the JC and on the Hymer's - it appears a more practical use of the space. Alas, it hasn't changed but I'm sure it will on later versions. We liked the inclusion of a freezer compartment BUT it's too small. The Grand California's similar arrangement is 2-3 times the size. Quite frankly they shouldn't have bothered. Finally the JC is a very nice albeit expensive, designed to compete with the Hymer GC but only available in 150hp for the non 4x4 version, and the prototype on show wasn't very well finished in places. We're currently deciding between the SH, JC, and possibly a Hymer. Choices and £££

The electric heating option is nice but not major. Metered power charging at campsites would be a better reward for our meagre hookup power consumption.I prefer the current 2 basket fridge to having a fridge/freezer. Not sure either way on the sink/hob combo. With the addition of our bamboo sink cover I prefer it as a worktop to more glass lid.

Nothing groundbreakingly different to yours really.

Another contender from Eriba(Hymer). I have a Grand Cali 680 and I’m considering a smaller van. I don’t like the Beluga Whale look of the Grand `Cali 600, so I’m very interested in the Sven Hedin.

According to the spec sheet it appears it now has a heated windscreen! That’s a great addition. Plus the interlock on the sliding door. Useful. The electric heating option sounds useful too. Not keen on the fridge or the glass topped sink.

Interesting to note the engine change from 177hp to 163hp. Done for emission reasons apparently, but hard to find any data on emissions (and it is a VW after all...). Torque remains the same, so hopefully not too much difference on the road.
Not too much functional change to the interior, a matter of personal taste really. The fridge looks OK and the freezer may be a benefit if it actually functions as a freezer, as opposed to just a slightly cooler part of the fridge. I like the electric heating option, probably the most significant upgrade. Lack of standard solar and LPF battery looks a bit dated compared to an increasing number of comparable vans, but future upgradeable.
We have one on order, bought effectively blind based on the 24 model, but overall still pleased with our choice. At least they haven't tried to reinvent for the sake of it, and spoil what was already a really good van.

Any idea how much of a price increase the new Sven will be over the current version? I assume they will be charging more....Personally, as a current Sven owner of a year, I am pleased to see very little improvement - perfectly happy not having a freezer and having the two big baskets, the integrated sink and cooker unit isn't a big deal either. If you spend a lot of time off-grid then the addition of electric powered heating is no big deal, though I appreciate it is good if you are on campsites. They could have sorted the blind systems a bit better for sure, which wasn't mentioned. Overall, very pleased that there is no quantum leap here, and it is reassuring for our residuals, and also it shows that it is difficult to improve much on an already brilliant van.

I think the new Dash and infotainment system is the bigger selling point on these vans, it's a massive jump forward and makes the existing dash look quite old. The fridge having a freezer is a selling point....depending how big the freezer is...

Anyone else notice the nod to a certain Ape builder in Manchester? Same colour, loder tyres and similar wheels

Very Nice! I’m unsure about the fridge/Freezer change. It’s the underfloor heating still in place and spec the same as before. Does this have Sola panels on ?

Been waiting for this model year Sven. Think we still prefer a rear lounge layout though but the inclusion of electric heating a big bonus. So, trading in the Cali soon for either a Sven or a Hillside Leisure Hopton.

Nice but I just can’t see spending this much on a van over a motorhome

Guess I have too many questions at this time, when will it be available?
