If you’re going to move anywhere for your YouTube career NYC is the best option in the US. Access to the YouTube Space, plenty of events and opportunities to work with brands... great airport. Plenty of huge creators there too.

I think people who move to LA in pursuit of fame vs. people who grow up in LA have very different experiences. Doesn't feel fake to me, but that's just because I'm surrounded regular, grounded people. Very understandable that you didn't quite see that side of the city.

I feel like you're talking about a very specific part of LA....West Hollywood/Hollywood area. However you could absolutely see an old woman with purple hair say in Venice. East LA has nice people who are super down to earth. Or what about Long Beach, Whittier, Pasadena, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Downey, Commerce..these are all towns in LA where the people you're talking about really don't exist. It's sad that West Hollywood really represents all of LA for so many people because it's such a small, shallow part of a really great city.
