Flugplatz Oranienburg - Abandoned Berlin

Flugplatz Oranienburg was built between 1936 and 1939 and used almost until the end of the war by the Heinkel-Werke Oranienburg armaments factory to develop and build warplanes for Germany’s Luftwaffe.
The former airfield’s biggest claim to fame is as a test center for the legendary Horten Ho IX/Horten Ho 229 Flying Wing, the world’s first ever “stealth” bomber, which reached speeds of up to 960 km/h in the summer of 1944.
Allied bombing finished off the Heinkel works In April 1945. The Soviets took over after the war and left their mark on the airfield, which has suffered since they left in 1994. Signs of their presence can still be found there today, but you won’t find any traces of the elusive Horten Ho IX.

This kind of esoteric abandoned stuff around Berlin fascinates me. There are so many places that have just been left, perhaps where more cramped cities might demolish and rebuild Berlin just leaves huge areas to time and nature. I very much will enjoy more of the videos like this too, perhaps also some longer informational productions?

Love it. Plenty more to come I hope.

A brave and clearly skilled drone pilot. Would love to have seen a drone-simulation of a plane landing & taking off. There's nothing like clanking down the runway to evoke the atmosphere of an airport, even a ghost one. Next airport maybe?

Wouldn't quite call it music but it is certainly a brilliant soundtrack for this place.

Congratulations.
