🇫🇷 What the heck is a ‘preposition’? Speak better French now!

The clue is in the word. It shows the POSITION of one thing/person to another.
Here is a way to remember what a preposition is with the 4p’s.
1. Position (where)?
Le stylo est SUR/SOUS la table.
The pen is ON/UNDER the table.
2. Period (when)?
On se voit APRÈS le déjeuner.
We’ll see each other AFTER lunch.
3. Process (how/manner)?
J’ai voyagé PAR train.
I travelled BY train.
4. Purpose (why/for whom)?
Ce cadeau est POUR lui.
This present is FOR him.
Prepositions are often different in different languages.
Par exemple:
English: I’m singing IN the rain. 🌧️
French: Je chante SOUS la pluie (under).
English: I’m ON the train.
French: Je suis DANS le train (in). 🚂
With prepositions you have a special set of pronouns that follow them. Let’s use POUR…
For me - Pour moi
For you - Pour toi/vous
For him/her - Pour lui/elle
For us - Pour nous
For them - Pour eux/elles
