Roots are modified for storing food, providing support, absorbing food from other plants, etc. Stems are modified to provide support, perform photosynthesis or to store food. Photosynthesis i.e. synthesis of food is the main function of leaves. In some plants the leaves are modified for food storage, providing support or protection and trapping of food.
