Top 10 States with the WORST Mosquitoes.

Do you hate mosquitoes? I am sure you said yes. The only people that like those blood suckers are freaks and researchers. The rest of us would be on board with getting rid of every single one on the planet. Side note: There are only two known places on the planet with no mosquitoes: Antarctica and Iceland.
Today we are looking at what places have the biggest problem with mosquitoes. Now I say the problem with mosquitoes instead of most mosquitoes because it is hard to figure out how many there are. Those little airmobile vampires refuse to line up and be counted. So we looked at what places have the most species of mosquitoes and how many Google searches for mosquitoes.

As a Minnesotan, I am both surprised and offended that our state did not end up on this list. We don’t call the mosquito our state bird for nothing 😂

Minnesota is AWFUL this year. There's entire clouds that swarm me every time I go outside.

Great video Mr. Briggs. I can confirm about Alaska. I worked/lived there for a summer. Hordes of mosuitoes can darken the sky. They are loud too.

I have been all over this country, out in the woods during mosquito season. The southern states are indeed bad for mosquitos. But the worst, by far, was northern Wisconsin during early June. Unbelievable. I'd say second place is Alaska.

I live in the Sunshine State. I feel for the settlers who came here before A/C, bug control and pool cages. This video made me itchy. 😃. - Heather

I hope you'll now do the states with the fewest mosquitos, please.

Wow Briggsy, I really thought Minnesota was going to be number one. I can speak from experience and I've had rivers of blood STREAMING down both legs, I got bit up so bad. And Alabama with 79.2 degree average Temps in the summer....I wish it was that cool when I was in the Army at Fort McClellan for basic back in 84! Great video!

In Minnesota they have 2 seasons: shovel and swat. And the species are Large! I never believed the stories about babies being carried off until I saw a skeeter bend over to bite a turkey.
Now I live in Springfield, MO. A little better for skeeters but we have more ticks and chiggers.

Grew up in Minnesota. I’ve never experienced skeeters anywhere else like what I experienced there. The South doesn’t even come close.

Absolutely shocked Minnesota and Wisconsin are not on here. Only reason I can surmise, is that no one Googles mosquitoes - it's just something you know will be bad, and you deal with it.
There are actually some weather reports in WI that include the mosquito forecast. No lie. And fwiw - Wisconsin has 56 varieties of mosquitoes.
Edit: I was entertained. 🙂

I've been to the Black Hills many times, and don't remember ever encountering a Mosquito. Recently in Wisconsin, I encountered droves and droves of them. We have our fair share here in Iowa, but the latter was on whole different level from my experience.

I grew up in Arkansas and woke up one night with 2 mosquitoes were at the foot of the bed and were discussing weather to eat me there or take me with them.

I too immediately thought of Minnesota.

On first visit to the State of Swamps and Bugs I got off the plane in Orlando and wondered "how do they control the mosquitos here?"

We live in the Ocala, Florida area. We have a big high powered fan for our car port area to keep the mosquitoes away from the side door and outside table. The fan is on a solar charger.

Thanks! I didn't even know you could rank states by mosquitoes. That's pretty awesome that is possible!

Love the “Google search” data point! Very scientific. 😂.

I am actually shocked that Minnesota is not on the list. Also, it seems to me that there would be a big difference between the western and eastern parts of some states, including two on this list. West Texas, being much dryer than east Texas should have a lot fewer mosquitoes; therefore, the stats you mentioned should be even more severe for east Texas. I did three months of military training in San Angelo in the middle of summer many years ago, and I don't recall Mosquitoes being a problem. I think the situation would be similar in South Dakota: the western part of the state being dryer and at higher elevation than the east.

I grew up in SoCal and Arizona, so in 1986 when I went to Basic Training in Missouri I experienced my first hatred for mosquitos. One of my buddies from Alabama calls them "Skeeters". LOL Later in my Army days I was stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA and absolutely hated those Skeeters on a daily basis.
