Course Overview

Instead of using a language like C# or Python, in this course we design a full featured game using Visual Finite State Machines. It's not only a fun way to learn how to program and build games, it's a great way to learn and understand game development and design.

More Advanced playMaker techniques

This course starts out at the beginning but quickly jumps into more advanced game design patterns and architecture. You quickly learn the value of sending events between state machines and setting up multiple state machines to better organize your project.

Experienced game developers are increasingly using tools like playMaker and other state machine visual programming tools for rapid prototyping and high level conceptual game design. Games such as Blizzard's Hearthstone have used playmaker's finite State Machines all the way into finished production games.

As you will see in this course, not only can you build fully functional games but you can build them at speeds that rival experts in C# or other traditional languages. Even better, when you get into game design patterns that are better served with C# scripting or modules, you can easily integrate them with playMaker state machines.
