You first flew under Weymouth Town Bridge, then through the ramparts of Sandsfoot Castle, then yesterday we took a nose dive through Old Harry's Rock cavern, and now you take us through Corfe Castle. TRIVIA ALERT! Also known as 'Corfe Gate' in the alternate history novel Pavane, by Keith Roberts. As such, a semaphore tower would have crowned one of the towers, a signalman at the controls, clanking out a message to the next semaphore in line. This is where the aristocratic niece of Jesse Strange - a steam engine haulier from the first 'measure' - revolted against the Church of Rome. It's very strange reading that novel, being set in an alternate 1968 Dorset (Durnovaria), then discovering an actual annual Steam Fair is held in Swanage and Castle grounds! I'm surprised they don't have a steampunk style convention dedicated to the book. Steam was the most powerful technology, other discoveries being restricted by Papal Bulls.
