This surgery has many side effects like loss of speech, balance, walking ability. My father lost all and caught an infection during his battery replacement at 5 years and they had to remove all hardware to cure the infection. He was bedridden thereafter as they determined it was too risky to put it back. He flew to the surgery on his own
