I liked Todd's tip for adding bleach. Drain some water from your water house. Pour the proper amount of bleach into the hose end. Put hose end in the tank fill. Turn on water. So easy. No funnel. No pitcher. Whether this works depends on your RV's setup.

I sterilize with vodka. One for the RV tank, one for me, one for the tank, one for me………..😂

I bought used and did not get any documentation. However, I was able to find the camper manual and individual appliance and equipment manuals at the RV manufacturer's web site. I downloaded PDF copies and printed them, punched them, and then assembled them in a big D-ring binder. I keep the binder in a cabinet in the camper. It really helps get up to speed on operation and troubleshooting.

Just one thing. The correct way to mix acid, or any chimical and water, is to put the bleach into the water, and not the water into the bleach, as you said in step one

Good point regarding flushing the Grey tank because the chlorine will kill the "good" bacteria. Never thought about that. Thanks

You did Not explain that you need to run both the hot and cold separately till you smell the bleach.
You don't have to empty the tank by running the life out of your pump.
After you let it sit overnight run each hot and cold separately then just dump the fresh tank.
You can then flush and fill the tank with fresh water then run the fixtures to flush the bleach.
And don't forget to run the Low Point drains as well 👍

My RV has a tankless hot water heater, I am also hooked up to a freshwater system so I don’t need to bleach my tank out that often and I live in Florida

Another way to find info is to Google your RV brand and model. I found websites for 2 owners clubs that had links to old sales literature. I found a page that listed dimensions and capacities and saved the pdf to my phone. Now I can have quick access any time I need it.

I've been using Camco's drinking water freshener last couple of seasons. Put about 2 ounces of it in my fresh water hose before filling the tank. Have any experience with that?

I get how important this is, but here in California (chronically drought-stricken), it's painful to pour out 240+ gallons of fresh water.

How often should clean your fresh water tank like this?

Gray and Black Rv tanks are Holding Tanks.
You should never Treat them like a Septic System.

That is a LOT of bleach! 1/4 cup in 60 gal would be plenty.

Or you could just check your rv data plate for the volume of your water tank. You would think she would know this.

I was told not to use your black tank as a septic tank because it builds up in there. You should never use your black tank like a septic tank.
