I agree, amazing ending. Even though while watching the movie I couldn't think of a way that it could possibly end, I agree that this was the best way and the only solution I can think of.

Movie: An ABSOLUTE MUST SEE. better than inception mark my words. acting was incredible. storyline amazing. plot maybe a bit shaky but still interesting. gave me chills numerous times. probably one of my favorite movies

One of the best movies i saw this year, very original story, great editing and cinematography . not a action as the trailer shows ( there is action ) but a really good movie . just my opinion :)

the ending made perfect sense. In order for Joe to escape the infinite time loop he was trapped in, he killed himself thus erasing old Joe from existence. The reason why the little kid becomes the Rainmaker is because he witnesses his mother shot and killed, which is what Old Joe was about to do...incidentally continuing the infinite cycle...Young Joe realized this and took his own life before old Joe could carry out the action. There was really no other way the film could have ended.

I've been waiting a loooong time to see a nice time travel movie... really looking forward to it now.
So far, my favorite has been the Swedish movie Time Crimes... the most interesting thing is how consistent it seemed, and how well it seemed to maintain a causally consistent time-line...
I'd really love it if Looper could side-step the paradoxes of time-travel.

Because if a film is about time travel then of course it is going to incorporate it into the film. After her falls from the fire escape, it shows what happened in Old Joe's timeline and how he lived his life before getting sent back in time. Then he follows his younger self like in Back in the Future Part 2 and saves him after falling from the fire escape. If you don't like the movie, fine but don't call it stupid based on the facts that you couldn't understand it...

what would you rather see in a trailer? im glad i heard that i should go see it, rather than have every single thing ruined from the trailer, it meant i was guessing throughout the film and didnt get stuck with a predictable ending. great film, decent trailer that doesnt ruin the film. and i know what you mean about the chills, the first bit that really stood out, well i cant say, but it was probably the same bit you can think of that really spins everything on its head. awesome.
