seen by averted vision with dark adapted eyes as a large fuzzy coma in 10 x 50 mm binoculars at 2.a.m. from 20 miles east of London England on 16th December 2018; and for some reason no more prominent in 11 x 80 binoculars ( despite much fainter stars seen with the larger binoculars )

Am I right in saying that the comet is going to be easiest to find on the 15th (when it will be pretty much directly below the Pleiades) and the 16th when its going to be just to the left of the Pleiades? I unfortunately live in an area where the street lamps drown out most of the night sky (can see up to about magnitude 3.5, 4 if im lucky) so am finding it difficult to find at the moment. I have binoculars (20x50) but I like to find it with the naked eye first as it makes it much easier to find then.

By my understanding (probably not the best lol), don't comet tails always point away from the sun? So if it is visible at closest approach will you actually see that much? I'm guessing the tail will grow in size as it surpasses closest approach?

Please correct me if I'm wrong :P
