Amy Adams & The Curse Of Being Nice, Talented And... Overlooked 🏆😥

Amy Adams is a screen icon who is beloved for her immense talent onscreen and her kind persona in real life – but something that’s become a major part of her image is the fact that, even though she has played so many amazing roles (and is even seen by many as one of the great actors of her generation) she’s won zero Oscars. Of course, awards aren’t everything – and the fact that she hasn’t won doesn’t erase her great body of work – but it does make one wonder: what is it that's kept her from being fully recognized? In an interesting way, Amy’s struggle mirrors the career frustrations of many talented women. So let’s take a deeper look at what’s really going on…

Amy doesn't need awards as she has proven her talent, the awards need her.

Amy's personality or career is not the problem, the awards are problem. She doesn't need to do anything else besides her job, and she's not the first artist not to get recognition... Billie Eilish has two Oscars; Martin Scorsese, Kubrick, Hitchcock only got one each. Let that sink in...

I hadn't watched any of Amy Adams' work in a long time until I watched "Sharp Objects" this year. I saw people saying how it wasn't her best work just because she had a "glassy-eyed stare the whole time" and "spoke in monotone whispers", when this is the kind of acting that's the hardest to pull off. It's subtle, nuanced, and fits the tone of the story. Just because an actor isn't bawling their eyes out or screaming at the top of their lungs, doesn't mean it's not an award-deserving performance.

Amy Adams is the Deborah Kerr of her generation. She definitely should have won for "Arrival", her performance was simply wonderful. ❤

I’ve always been impressed by her ability to make you believe she’s playing a different person despite never changing her appearance too much. She has such a recognizable face, not to mention hair, but each character feels exactly right for that film. Lots of great actors build characters from the outside in, but I think what’s harder is to build from inside out, like she does.

Donald Sutherland not only never won an Oscar, he was NEVER nominated for one. He was given an Academy Honorary Award in 2017, but that doesn't count. There's another video for The Take to make.

I haven't seen too many of her films, but her role in Enchanted as Giselle is brilliantly acted, and it's one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. I would have nominated her for that movie alone. She deserved it and still does.

Worked with her once as a day player. She is genuinely sweet to the people around her on set from what I've seen. I watched actors with smaller rolls on the same project be kind of crappy to PAs, too.

I must say I am huuuge Amy Addams fan. I've fell in love with her in "Sharp Things" and she's never disappointed ever since. Every role she plays is amazing

Awards aren't everything indeed, but it pisses me of how we act as if the Oscars are the be all end all of film recognition, even in other countries. They're mostly about commercial cinema of the US and of course they've tried to be more inclusive lately. But you watch movies from other countries and you immediately realize how much acting technique, story telling, visual style and experimentation is going on in other places

Amy Adams is one of my favourite actresses, it's such a shame that she keeps getting passed over for Oscars. It'll come to the point where they'll end up gifting her an honourary Oscar.

Amy is fantastic, with or without an award. She has nothing to prove to anyone. That said, I'd love to see her get more recognition.

She's so loveable and sweet. I just adore her and there's not many celebrities I feel that way about. I hope she never changes, awards or not

Amy Adams reminds me of classic star Deborah Kerr, who was a "nice, talented and overlooked" actress, who was six-times Oscar Nominee, but never won.

I have binge watched her movies and interviws for the last 3 weeks. She is an amazing actress, but I wouldn't call her overlooked just because she never won that Oscar. She has accomplished so much more important than this one statue. Within 10 years of her career really taking off with Enchanted (while dhe already had one nomination) she got a star on the walk of fame, which for me is more worth as it includes all of her work than one award for one performance. And let's face it, all of her performances deserve recognition.
