I'm so fucking glad I grew up with music like this. The music on the radio these days just doesn't hit the same.

When I heard this song for the first time in 2012, it was on the radio at the time and I thought nothing of it until the "Hey I just met you" part came on with the bassline and the orchestral strings that went along with it and I said to myself : WHO IS THAT ? Little did I know it was Carly Rae Jepsen and from that point on, the song became a pop culture phenomenon in which billions of people were making their own versions of this song all over the internet. So I wanted to know who this Carly Rae Jepsen person was and how she got all of this attention to begin with and I was hooked.

I remember in like 5th grade a few classes went into one room and we all watched this and then an interview with Carly Rae Jepsen, I still have no idea what that was about

Long, but true, story:

My brother got married in 2012, and after the wedding, there was a party, where my brother in-law was the DJ. And he played this song.

At one point during the party, a girl was looking at me, and she looked just like CRJ, but I thought "I'm not going to say anything. I'm not going to say anything.". But then she came over and asked if I wanted to be closer to the dance floor, and I immediately thought "Okay, I have to say something.". I told her, and she burst out laughing. Then I noticed, in the distance, another girl who looked like CRJ. I said something about her, and the girl I was originally talking to freaked out and ran over and told the other girl about what I said. A few days later, I told my brother about what happened, and he said who the girls were, and that they were his friends. And I believe he said they were going to remember what I told them forever.

I don't know what I would have thought if the DJ didn't play this song, but that just rubbed it in. I think back, and feel like I should have joked "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special celebrity here!".

I also found it weird that there were *two* girls that looked like her.
